But for the vast majority of people, lo-fi means "lo-fi hip hop beats to relax/study to." They're technically wrong, but they're wrong in such great numbers that now they're right.
People need music to study and read to, and hip hop is repetitive by nature, but lo-fi hip hop is calm enough to do other activities while listening. It's also incredibly easy to make a decent sounding track so there's a lower barrier of entry and thus, we get a community of music that's flourishing. 5. Award.
LoFi music is terrible. LoFi has no rhythm. It's too slow to do anything to but sit around, and even then you get bored. It all sounds the exact same. Some boring SLOW beat with a distorted/echoed voice who you can't even understand. The entire genre of music seems to be 99% visuals.
